You lack the moral justification to criticise Ortom – Benue APC tells Tsav
The All Progressives Congress in Benue State has fired back at elder statesman and a former commissioner of police, Abubakar Tsav over his constant media attacks on the state governor, Samuel Ortom.
Tsav had in a recent interview accused Ortom of, among others, probing Suswam wrongly.
The party in a statement by its acting spokesman, Berger Alfred Emberga wondered why would a civil servant like Tsav decided to appoint himself as spokesperson to former governor, Gabriel Suswam.
Berger said, for a man who is in charge of a Federal agency at the state level such as Public Complaints Commission, Tsav’s involvement in partisan politics makes him unfit to man such a sensitive position.
He said, “Tsav lacks the moral justification to criticise Governor Ortom. A man who applauded an administration which looted the state to the tune of nearly N200 billion; a man who has kept sealed lips for many months over allegations of delinquency and fraud of millions of naira levelled against his biological children, certainly such an elder has lost his seat in the forum of respected elders.
“Tsav has also not commented on the allegation that the same son of his once stole N2 million in the house of the man whose daughter he had gone to court for marriage.
“No wonder that major stakeholders in Vandeikya local government area, his home community, have publicly renounced and disowned him.
“Alhaji Abubakar Tsav is one of the persons who aided the former governor to plunder Benue’s resources and plunge the state into huge debts and a deficit treasury for the first time in its history. He was not heard or read questioning the mismanagement of state funds under the previous administration in eight years. This is the same man who has now found his voice and has adorned the garb of anti-corruption and wants people to believe him.
“Tsav appears to suffer personal pain each time the name of Gabriel Suswam is mentioned and associated with fraud. If the retired cop cares so much about the need to protect the image of the former governor, was it not easier for him to counsel Suswam to lead the state prudently? Tsav’s pitiable case is similar to a man crying more than the bereaved.
“Perhaps the former police man needs to be told that Governor Ortom is already performing better than his predecessor, when the resources available to the previous administration and those coming in now are placed side by side.
“Governor Ortom has received local and international recognitions as a result of his sterling performance in different spheres of development. The recent honour accorded the Governor during one of the side events of the United Nations General Assembly in New York for his success in Sustainable Development Goals projects is one of the examples.
“The issue of salaries raised is a national problem which Nigerians know quite well. Twenty-seven states cannot pay salaries on time now and Benue is one of such states. The current recession was caused by the reckless handling of resources by the previous government which the self appointed spokesman supported with relish at the state level.
“Governor Ortom does not have a convoy of 15 cars as alleged. This allegation and several others again go to show that the public complaints commissioner is only an envious man who does everything he can to bring down any Benue person who does well without patronising him. He launched a similar campaign of hate for eight years against former Governor now Senator, George Akume. If Suswam had not patronised his unquenchable thirst for money, he would have given him the same dose of blackmail.”
