Bashir El-Rufai, son of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, recently delivered a pointed message directed at President Bola Tinubu regarding his reelection prospects in 2027.
In his statement, Bashir emphasized that no individual is immune to being voted out of office by the electorate, cautioning that such a change could occur without repercussions. He urged people to disregard any intimidation tactics being employed and advocated for patience.
In a post on his social media handle on Wednesday, Bashir appeared to allude to Tinubu, suggesting that not even international financial institutions like the IMF and World Bank would intervene when the time comes, humorously noting, “Political strategists, take note. That’s strictly a Lagos affair.”
It’s worth noting that Tinubu was widely recognized as a master strategist during the 2023 presidential campaign.
DAILY POST highlighted that Bashir El-Rufai’s father has faced allegations of financial misconduct during his tenure as Kaduna State governor.
“I firmly believe that nobody is too influential to be removed from office by the people. It will happen, and I swear, nothing will happen. So, let’s disregard all these intimidation tactics. Let’s exercise patience.
“Even the IMF and World Bank won’t come to your rescue then. Political strategists, take note. That’s strictly a Lagos affair.”
Following up on his initial statement, Bashir clarified that he did not mention any names, but reiterated his stance that no one should be coerced into supporting what he views as a failed governance approach disguised as a divisive and hazardous ethnocentric political strategy.
“I didn’t name names, but those guilty already know who I’m referring to. I swear, none of you can force anyone to endorse this failed governance masked as a useless, dangerous ethnocentric political strategy.”
