A teenager identified as Ajonye (surname withheld) drank rat poison after being arrested by members of the vigilante of Effa quarters in Otukpo with a dagger and a locally constructed fake gun around 1am in the area on Friday.

It was gathered that Ajonye, who claimed he was not out to steal but to secure the  area was allowed to go home around 8am without his dagger and locally constructed fake gun but was warned never to be seen moving about like that again.
However, his elder brother, identified as Adikwu, rushed back to the vigilante post hours later that he (Ajonye) had drank rat poison and currently in coma.

He said, ” I was in the neighborhood when I heard my name directly from my neighbors compound, on getting there, I discovered that my younger brother has drank rat poison, so we quickly got some red oil to give him before calling for assistance.”
