Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has urged Nigerian Children not to despair in the midst of the daunting economic and socio- political challenges.
Rather, he urged them to brace up to the challenges with a renewed hope and determination to excel “because you are the hope for the nation”.
The governor in a goodwill message to mark this year’s children day praised the Nigerian children for their indomitable spirit to excel inspite of the odds.
He said: “as we mark the year 2023 Children day, I want you to know how much you mean to us as a government and as a community. You are the future of our state and country and we are committed to creating an environment that will enable you to grow and develop to your full potential.
“I am proud of the many achievements and accomplishments of our children in various fields, including academics, sports, and the arts. Your hard work, dedication, and talent are a source of inspiration to us all.”
In a manner akin to advising the incoming administration, Ortom said “as we celebrate Children’s Day, let us renew our commitment to providing a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment for our children. Let us work together to ensure that every child in the country has access to quality education, healthcare, and other essential services.”
The governor however urged them to continue to be good ambassadors of the state and country to be kind, respectful, and responsible citizens.
He reminded them that the future belongs to them and “we are counting on you to make it a bright and prosperous one.”
He prayed that the Nigerian child continues to grow in strength, wisdom, and grace.
