The recently sworn in Commissioner for Youths and Sports Development, Benue State, Comr Ojotu Ojema on Tuesday, took over the mantle of leadership of the ministry from his predecessor, Hon.Mrs Ladi Ajene Esigbe.

Speaking shortly after taking over from the outgoing commissioner, Comr Ojema thanked Governor Samuel Ortom for giving him the rare privilege to serve the state, saying he would justify the confidence reposed in him.

According to Ojema, his appointment was a clear indication that Gov Ortom had confidence in the ability of youths to deliver, hence the need to keep the flag flying.

He also appreciated his predecessor, Mrs Ajene for all the achievements recorded by the ministry before his arrival, promising to carry all the workers along and do all he could in order to sustain the tempo.

Earlier in her speech, the outgoing Commissioner and now commissioner for Trade and Investment, Hon.Mrs Ladi Ajene congratulated Comr Ojema on his appointment as commissioner by His Excellency, Samuel Ortom, wishing him all the best in his endeavours.

Also speaking on behalf of the workers, the Acting Permanent Secretary said, the transfer of the outgoing commissioner and appointment of the new overseer of the ministry took them by surprise, adding that the ministry had recorded a lot of achievements under Mrs Ajene tutelage, few of which include; the recently held Youth Summit and Youth Parliaments in the state after the recently held #EndSARS protests nationwide.

The handing/taking ceremony which took place at the ministry’s conference hall was witnessed by the Acting permanent Secretary, the Director of Finance and members of the press.
