Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu has lauded the impressive achievement of Odunayo Adekuoroye at the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
Recall that the Ondo State-born Olympian, won the gold medal in the women’s 57kg freestyle wrestling on Friday after defeating Indian competitor, Anshu Malik.
Reacting to the feat, Akeredolu in a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Richard Olatunde, praised Adekuoroye for making the state proud.
“Our own Odunayo Adekuoroye has recorded another feat for the country. We are particularly proud that she displayed courage and resilience to clinch her win even in the face of intense pressure.
“We are, indeed, thrilled that an Ondo State indigene has brought pride to the black race, the Nation and the Sunshine State in particular. Her victory is a collective pride for the country,” he said.
