Yul Edochie faces backlash over claims of 22-hour daily power supply in Nigeria

Nollywood actor Yul Edochie has come under fire for his recent comments stating that most states in Nigeria now enjoy 22 hours of power supply daily, attributing this improvement to President Bola Tinubu.

Edochie made the statement on Saturday, also praising Tinubu for contributing to reduced insecurity across the country. As a vocal supporter of the president, Edochie has faced repeated online criticism, with many Nigerians accusing him of being out of touch with the current realities faced by the average citizen.

This latest remark has sparked a wave of criticism on social media, with many users flooding his comment sections to express their disapproval. On Instagram, @emmanuel_wonders_ wrote, “Even Abuja no get, Yul I no dey join mouth for your matter but stop provoking me before Chukwu akpọ gị ọkụ there.”

Another Instagram user, @klararita_24, commented, “Na that electricity ⚡ go shock you.”

Meanwhile, @nimemkenneth advised the actor to reconsider his approach, saying, “Yul take it easy. This is not the best way to get political appointment. Focus on your acting career. Stop embarrassing your fans biko.”

On X (formerly Twitter), @ddmkaribo wrote, “Am sure he’s broke and seeking unnecessary recognition as well as a contract or appointment as an adviser to the president on drama.”

@Sunnybee2020, refuting Edochie’s claim, said, “You lie, Oga. We hardly see 2 hours per day in my area in Lagos. We now rely on inverter and generator. Moreover, you don’t even know how to lie very well. No one will appoint you to this present admin. They only engage professional liars, which I know you are not.”

Edochie, the son of legendary Nollywood actor Pete Edochie, has been a prominent figure in the Nigerian entertainment industry and a staunch advocate for President Tinubu’s administration.
