As Nigeria joins the rest of the world to mark this year’s Christmas, which commemorates the birth of Jesus Christ, the senatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Benue South, Comrade Abba Moro, has called on Christian faithful in the country to see the season as a time to show love and reach out to people.
Moro, a former Minister of Interior, said Christians should use the opportunely to extend love and care to those in need; especially the less-privileged and the vulnerable.
The PDP chieftain made this call in a special Christmas message released on Monday, through his Director of Media and Publicity, Ameh Comrade Godwin.
He particularly enjoined Christians not to allow the celebration make them forget the reason for the season.
“I would like to congratulate our Christian brothers and sisters on the Christmas celebration. As we celebrate the birth of our Lord, Jesus Christ, I urge us all to imbibe the spirit of true love and sacrifice for one another.
“Christmas is a time to show love and care to our family, friends, loved ones and even those we see as foes.
“Let us spare a thought for our less-privileged and vulnerable neighbours by donating gifts in cash and kind for them have a memorable celebration.
“Let us pray for the leadership of our great country as we are entering into the New Year 2019.
“We should remember those in need. We shouldn’t be carried away by the euphoria of the moment and forget the man whose birth we are celebrating.
“Jesus Christ, whose birth anniversary is being celebrated all over the world is a preacher of love and we should as well follow his teaching and practice by extending same love to those around us.
“I call on Christians all over Nigeria to continue to pray for the peace and progress of the country, especially now that the nation approaches another election year in 2019.
“I also enjoin my good people in Benue South to continue to pray for the peace of our land as we journey across THE BRIDGE into A BETTER TOMORROW.”
