The Zamfara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested a suspected car thief attempting to sell a stolen vehicle in Gusau, the state capital.
On December 12, 2024, Mr. Alkasim Muhammad Kabir, a 33-year-old resident of Kano State, reported the theft of his Mercedes-Benz C300 (registration number DAL68HK Kano), along with a Samsung Galaxy A55 5G and an iPhone 12.
Tracking efforts revealed the suspect’s route from Kano State through Dayi, Malumfashi, and Funtua en route to Zamfara State.
Acting on intelligence reports, the NSCDC apprehended 30-year-old Muhammad Dauda Ismail, an indigene of Dala Local Government Area, Kano State, on December 15, 2024, in Gusau.
Ismail was found in possession of the stolen Mercedes-Benz C300, a Samsung Galaxy A55 5G, and $7,000 in suspected counterfeit currency.
He confessed to obtaining the items under false pretenses, claiming he left the owner’s residence to refill gas at a plant in Kano but absconded instead.
Investigations are ongoing, and the suspect is expected to be arraigned before a court upon completion.
The NSCDC urges the public to continue providing timely and accurate information to assist in the fight against crime.
