Zamfara: Troops neutralized two bandits

Troops from the 1 Brigade and Sector 1 Joint Task Force (North West) under Operation Hadarin Daji (OPHD), as part of Operation Sahel Sanity II, have successfully neutralized two extremists in Zamfara State.

In a statement issued on Saturday, Lt. Suleiman Omale of OPHD reported that the operation took place on August 16, 2024, in the Unguwar Sarkin Musulmi area of Kaura Namoda Local Government Area. Acting on credible intelligence, the troops swiftly responded to reports of extremist activities in the area. Upon arrival, they engaged the extremists in a fierce gunfight, successfully neutralizing two of them.

Lt. Omale further noted that the remaining extremists were forced to flee in disarray during the encounter. A mop-up operation was conducted afterward, during which the troops recovered an operational motorcycle belonging to the extremists.

He assured that the area has been secured, with troops from the Sector 1 Joint Task Force (North West) maintaining a strong presence and conducting confidence-building patrols to ensure the safety of the local community.
