Zimbabwe teacher faces backlash as leaked video with student goes viral
A 33-year-old teacher, Cindy, has reportedly arrived in court with her lawyer following the circulation of a trending video involving a 16-year-old student.
The case has attracted widespread attention on social media, raising concerns over student safety and professional conduct.
The controversy began after a new video surfaced online, showing the student accusing the teacher of inappropriate conduct during a private tutoring session.
The footage, reportedly recorded by the student, shows him recounting how he approached the teacher for extra help in mathematics. According to his account, he was invited to the teacher’s home for additional lessons, where the alleged misconduct occurred.
The clip has reignited public debate on professional ethics, child protection, and the responsibilities of educators.
Child rights advocates have called for an immediate inquiry, stressing that safeguarding minors must remain a top priority. Authorities, however, have yet to confirm whether a formal investigation has been launched.
Meanwhile, Cindy has released a statement denying any intentional wrongdoing. She described herself as “wrongfully detained” and maintained that the incident was accidental. According to her, she was merely tutoring the student in mathematics and had no improper intentions.
The teacher, who claims over a decade of teaching experience, expressed shock at the public backlash and urged the public to withhold judgment until all facts are fully established.
