EXCLUSIVE! Ortom to dump Abounu, may settle for Alapa or Alli as running mate as he heads for SDP
Barring any unforeseen circumstance, Benue State governor, Samuel Ortom may dump his deputy, Engr Benson Abounu as running mate ahead of the 2019 governorship election, IDOMA VOICE can exclusively report.
Ortom had on Monday announced his resignation from the All Progressives Congress, APC, on the ground that he has been red carded by the ruling party.
Although, Ortom, who has been at the receiving end of harsh criticisms due to his poor and woeful performance in office is yet to announce the next party he’s moving to but sources said he had concluded plans to join the Social Democratic Party, SDP,
IDOMA VOICE gathered that Abounu had severally discouraged Ortom against dumping the APC but the former had maintained that he was not longer comfortable in the ruling party.
A reliable source hinted our reporter in Makurdi that Abounu was never in support of Ortom’s movement.
The source further revealed that Ortom had already penned down two persons from Otukpo as his possible running mate.
Among those he’s considering are: Chief Nelson Alapa, former Minority Chief of the House of Reps or George Alli, the highly-loved and celebrated local government chairman of Otukpo.
