15 dead, over 20 injured as bus falls off cliff in Sri Lanka

At least 15 people have been confirmed dead and more than 20 others injured after a passenger bus veered off a cliff in Kotmale, located in Sri Lanka’s Central Province, on Sunday morning, police authorities have confirmed.
The injured victims were rushed to nearby regional hospitals for emergency treatment, while police say an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the tragic crash.
Road traffic accidents remain a significant concern in Sri Lanka, with buses frequently involved. According to official statistics, as of April 2, a total of 592 people have died in 565 fatal road accidents across the country this year.
