All roads leading to Otukpo-Icho in Otukpo local government was a bee hives of activities as the Deputy Governor of Benue State, Engr. Benson Abounu and the Sole Administrator of Otukpo Council, Hon. George Alli, on the 30th October 2016, received over 2000 PDP members from Ward 1, Iwulu and Ekete wards, that decamp into APC, in Otukpo.

Leading the decampees from Iwulu ward is, Hon. Inalegwu Jasper, a councillor aspirant of the PDP from Akpegede, the village of the Senator representing Benue South.

While other decampees that spoke, eulogized the Deputy Governor for his consistency in community development and empowerment. According to them, the road network, in around their community is the creation of Abounu, when he was a commissioner and no other government presence has been witnessed since then. They were remorseful of their ingratitude and chronicled their experience to the parable of the prodigal son.

The decampees further stated that, the major reason for their paradigm shift, is the appointment of Hon. George Alli, as the Sole Administrator of Otukpo local government. To them, that singular act, is the best that could happened to Otukpo people and it further shows the sincerity of APC, unlike what is tenable in the PDP. They commended Alli for the facelift given to Otukpo and promise to support the APC led government, they also wish, election is tomorrow to serve as a litmus test of their loyalty.

In receiving the decampees, Abounu appreciates them, for their bold step, having seen the light with the understanding of the Idoma political philosophy and assured them of equal access in the party, because injustice and discrimination is intolerable in APC.
