Reports from the streets of Makurdi, Otukpo, Gboko and Kastina-Ala indicate that Samuel Ortom’s exit from the All Progressives Congress, APC, has paved way for Comrade Okpokwu Ogenyi to emerge unopposed in the forthcoming gubernatorial primaries of the ruling party.

Ortom had on Monday took the exit door from the All Progressives Congress, APC, hinging his reason the fact that his party had issued him a red card.

Though, major actors in Benue politics like Wantareng Paul Unongo, Senator Iorcha Ayu and the host of others have being agitating for power shift to the Idoma axis in 2019, believing that, after 47 years of existence, the Idomas deserve a chance to contribute to the development of the State, which is stagnant.

Comrade Okpokwu Ogenyi, who is below the age of 40, has since commenced consultations for the governorship race before President Muhammadu Buhari signed the ‘Not Too Young to Run’ bill into law.

The passage of the bill has boosted his ambition.

Today, Comrade Okpokwu Ogenyi is the sole candidate of the APC in Benue leaving the chance to the Idomas to produce the next governor if the APC wins the general elections in the State.

Ogenyi is a pro-Buhari activist, who was always on the street in defence of the current government.

He would be remembered for the vital role he played when Buhari was on medical vacation in London.

When contacted to comment on the development, Onu Gabriel Apeh, a member of the Okpokwu Ogenyi Media team said Ortom was never a member of the party, saying, “he only came to steal someone’s mandate. The rotten tooth has been pulled out, not the mouth can chew with carelessly.”

He added that, the Governor is already a liability which will crash any political Party he joins.

“The APC family is in a celebration mood at the moment as God has answered our prayers,” Apeh added.
