2019: Idomas call for removal of Benue governor with #OrtomMustGo campaign
By James Ewaoche Amedu
Ahead of the 2019 governorship election in Benue State, natives of Idoma have introduced a new campaign for the ouster of the current governor, Samuel Ortom.
The campaign, #OrtomMustGo, which is currently gaining momentum on the social mediasphere has unmasked the dirty deals going on in the current government.
Spearheading the OMG campaign, the coordinator of Idoma Govenor’s Support Group, Peterhot Apeh believes that Ortom does not see Idoma people as part of Benue, hence his reason for the campaign.
In serious of posts, the blogger-cum-activits recalled with anger how Ortom advised President Buhari to substitute the name of Idoma’s Dr. Enyantu Ifene’s name from the non-career ambassadorial list and replaced it with his Tiv brother, Steve Ugba, saying that such governor is “not liberal enough to get my vote the second time.”
In another post, the visibly irked writer said it was shameful for Ortom to pay civil servants November 2016 salary in April.
He said, “I actually waited to hear the Governor’s aides deny news of the Governor paying November 2016 salaries in April 2017 but didn’t see anything as such. I have said it repeatedly that it is a Benue Governor of Idoma extraction that can salvage the State.
#OMG2019 #OrtomMustGoIn2019. Let the campaign against corruption and incompetence start now.”
On his part, a commenter, Ede Mike said, “This is the truth that every TIV man hate to hear. But know matter how long you cover the truth it must come out one day. Idoma governor is the only way forward to Benue problem.”
Another Emmanuel Adakole Unogwu said Ortom does not deserve second term because, “He will steal workers salaries to buy vote as nearly every body is greedy and lack interest of the country.”
