2023 election: Why I want to govern Benue – Steve Lawani

A former Deputy Governor of Benue State, Chief Steve Lawani has publicly made known his intention to contest for Benue State governorship seat in 2023.

Lawani, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress made his intention known at a well-attended consultation event held in Otukpa, the headquarters of Ogbadibo Local Government Area on Thursday.

Speaking at the event, the former deputy governor said he has the needed experience to lead the people of Benue State, having served as deputy governor for eight years.

Lawani, however, said he needed the cooperation of the people Ogbadibo ahead of the journey.

Also speaking at the declaration ceremony, chairman of the occasion, Usman Abubakar, also known as Young Alhaji urged Lawani to work with elders of his clan ahead of the election.

Abubakar said although he fought the former Senate President, David Mark to his tooth in the past in his quest to represent Benue South in the red chamber, but he is behind Lawani to break the jinx by becoming the first Benue governor of Idoma extraction in 2023.

The event was attended by APC stakeholders and stalwarts in Ogbadibo, who all pledged their support for the Think Benue Project 2023.
