Chiamaka Nnadozie’s exceptional performance in the Super Falcons’ opening match at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup has earned her high praise from the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

In a thrilling Group B encounter against Olympic champions Canada on Friday in Melbourne, the Nigerian side showed great determination and held their opponents to a goalless draw.

The 22-year-old goalkeeper, Nnadozie, was undoubtedly the star of the match, making crucial saves that kept the Falcons in the game from start to finish. Her defining moment came in the 50th minute when she brilliantly saved a penalty, thwarting Canada’s attempts to take the lead.

Recognizing her remarkable contribution, CAF took to their women’s football Twitter handle to laud Nnadozie as the “Super Falcons’ saviour!” Her penalty save, impressive goalkeeping, and overall outstanding performance earned her the well-deserved Player of the Match award.

With their opening game success, Nnadozie and the Super Falcons are now looking forward to their next challenge as they take on co-hosts Australia in their second Group B encounter on Thursday, July 27.
