2023 WWC: Nnadozie named among five best African players of group stage

Super Falcons’ goalkeeper, Chiamaka Nnadozie, has earned recognition from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) as one of the five best African players in the group stages of the ongoing 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Nnadozie, who captained the Nigerian team in all three group games, played a pivotal role in securing their spot in the last-16 of the tournament.

The 22-year-old exhibited remarkable skill and composure as the Super Falcons held Olympic champions Canada to a goalless draw in their opening fixture. She was the standout performer in that match, saving Christine Sinclair’s penalty and earning the well-deserved Player of the Match award.

Nnadozie continued her impressive form in Nigeria’s thrilling 3-2 victory against co-hosts Australia, making several crucial saves to maintain her team’s lead.

Her outstanding performances have earned her a place among the top five African players of the group stage, as recognized by CAF.

Joining Nnadozie on the list are South African talents, Thembi Kgatlana and Hilda Magaia, as well as Atlas Lionesses of Morocco stars, Ibtissam Jraidi and Anissa Lahmari.
