2027: PDP will collapse if Atiku runs again — Anakwenze warns

Former presidential aspirant and ex-President of the World Igbo Congress, Dr. Nwachukwu Anakwenze, has cautioned the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) against fielding former Vice President Atiku Abubakar as its presidential candidate in the 2027 general election.
Anakwenze warned that the party risks losing its remaining strongholds if it fails to embrace new leadership and fresh ideas.
Speaking in Abagana, Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State—where he was recently installed as the Regent of the community—Anakwenze emphasized the need for a complete overhaul of the party’s leadership.
“I am a PDP member, but the party is struggling because individuals like Atiku do not want it to succeed. He is among those holding the party back,” he said.
He called for a new generation of visionary leaders who can outperform the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), blaming Nigeria’s persistent underdevelopment on poor leadership despite the country’s vast natural and human resources.
“The smartest people in Nigeria have never ruled this country, and that’s why we are failing in every sector,” he lamented.
Anakwenze also decried the continued dominance of power by those who prioritize ethnicity and religion over national unity and development.
“In Nigeria today, it is people who should be behind bars that are dictating the direction of the country,” he stated bluntly.
