A group of angry youths in Benue State has taken to the streets, blocking the Gboko-Aliade Road and demanding immediate road construction to address the road’s deplorable condition. This compelling protest highlights the frustrations of local residents who have long endured the poor state of this thoroughfare.

Mr. Terwase Tordue, a prominent leader among the protesting youths, emphasized the urgency of their plea for action from the relevant authorities. Specifically, they called upon Governor Alia of Benue State to address the deteriorating state of the roads under his jurisdiction.

The protesters have made it clear that they will not open the road until urgent steps are taken to reconstruct it. Their determination has caused a major disruption in the area, underscoring the severity of the issue.

The Gboko-Aliade Road has been plagued by potholes, erosion, and overall poor infrastructure for an extended period, making it a hazardous route for commuters. The protesters argue that this state of disrepair not only hinders transportation but also endangers lives.

Local residents have voiced their support for the demonstrators, highlighting the daily hardships they face due to the road’s abysmal condition. Many hope that this protest will serve as a wake-up call to the government to prioritize the reconstruction and maintenance of essential infrastructure in the region.
