Atiku has no case against Tinubu – Keyamo
Festus Keyamo, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, took to X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday to assert his belief that President Bola Tinubu will be exonerated from the allegations of certificate forgery. In a comprehensive tweet, he defended Tinubu’s innocence and stressed that the Supreme Court will ultimately clear the air on this matter.
Addressing the recent controversies surrounding the revelation of Tinubu’s academic records by Chicago State University (CSU), Keyamo emphasized a crucial legal principle related to forgery accusations. He stated that one cannot successfully allege or prove forgery unless the purported maker of the document denies its authenticity or there is uncontradicted evidence from a forensic report categorically confirming deliberate alteration or fabrication.
Keyamo applied this principle to the case of Atiku Abubakar v. Chicago State University, emphasizing that the university openly stated they do not issue replacement certificates, and vendors handle this on their behalf. He argued that allegations of forgery are ineffective until the specific vendor who issued the replacement certificate denies its authenticity, emphasizing that it’s the duty of the accuser to produce this evidence.
He reiterated his confidence in Tinubu’s integrity on this issue and expressed readiness to address the matter at the Supreme Court. Furthermore, Keyamo acknowledged Atiku Abubakar’s retirement from politics, extending best wishes for his future endeavors.
