Divine Oduduru faces six-year ban for doping violations
Nigerian sprinter, Divine Oduduru, faces a six-year ban due to two doping violations, as confirmed by the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) on Thursday.
The AIU cited “overwhelming evidence” against him, pointing to violations related to possession and attempted use of prohibited substances or methods.
Oduduru’s case is connected to that of his team-mate Blessing Okagbare, who received an 11-year ban for doping in 2022.
Throughout the investigation, Oduduru maintained his innocence.
The 27-year-old, known for his 100m best time of 9.86 seconds, was disqualified in the 100m heats at the Tokyo Olympics but reached the 200m semi-finals.
In 2014, he achieved silver in the 200m at the World Junior Athletics Championships.
