The Abuja Federal High Court issued an order on Wednesday for the remand of Olu Agunloye, a former Minister of Power and Steel, in the Kuje Correctional Centre, Abuja.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had brought forward charges against the ex-minister, accusing him of involvement in fraud related to the Mambilla Power Project.

Agunloye appeared before the Federal High Court in Abuja on Wednesday and entered a plea of not guilty to the charges brought against him.

Despite his plea, the presiding judge directed that he be remanded in the correctional centre until the determination of his bail application.

The legal proceedings are a part of the EFCC’s efforts to address allegations of financial misconduct in the Mambilla Power Project, and Agunloye’s remand underscores the seriousness with which the court is approaching the case.

The former minister will await further legal proceedings from within the confines of the correctional facility.
