Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun has directed law enforcement officers to take decisive action against arsonists and troublemakers during today’s EndBadGovernance protest. Egbetokun has warned that anyone involved in criminal activities during the nationwide protests will be arrested.

In a statement issued personally, Egbetokun criticized the organizers of the protest for not providing necessary details to the police, such as participant names and protest routes. He expressed concerns that the protests could lead to widespread chaos.

“The name ‘Take It Back Movement’ carries undemocratic, unconstitutional, and illegal connotations,” Egbetokun stated.

He further instructed all police personnel to address any incidents of arson, intimidation, harassment, threats to lives and property, and other forms of criminality associated with the protest.

“Anyone found committing a crime will be arrested and swiftly prosecuted,” he added.
