The Edo State Police Command has apprehended two suspected cultists, Osamudiamen James, 44, and Omokaro Joseph, 44, for illegal possession of arms and ammunition.

Commissioner of Police, Umoru Ozigi, disclosed the arrests during a press briefing in Benin City, stating that the suspects are members of the Supreme Eiye Confraternity.

James was first apprehended at Iyekemuose Street, Benin City, and later led operatives to their armoury. There, Omokaro Joseph, also known as Joe Best, initially evaded arrest but was eventually tracked down and detained.

During interrogation, James admitted his affiliation with the cult group and revealed details of their operations. Omokaro, in turn, confessed to selling firearms to individuals across Benin and its surroundings.

The police recovered five pump-action guns, three single-barrel guns, and 18 cartridges during the operation. The suspects are set to face charges in court soon
