Tragedy: Groom, friends die in terrible accident moments before wedding ceremony
What was meant to be a day of celebration turned into a heart-wrenching tragedy in Toro Local Government Area of Bauchi State, as a groom and two of his close friends lost their lives in a fatal road accident, just an hour before his wedding ceremony.
The incident occurred on Saturday morning around 9:00 am at Bargan Tsamiya village. The groom, identified as SP Mustapha Garba Gumau, a senior officer of the Nigeria Police Force, was reportedly enroute from Gumau to Magaman-Gumau for his wedding fatiha scheduled for 10:00 am when the accident happened.
According to eyewitness accounts, the vehicle conveying the groom and his friends veered off the road and crashed, killing SP Gumau, Shuaibu Umar, and Sulaiman Musa on the spot. Several other occupants of the vehicle sustained varying degrees of injuries and were rushed to nearby medical facilities for treatment.
The tragic news has plunged the communities of Gumau and Magaman-Gumau into deep mourning. What should have been a day of festivity and joy has instead turned into a painful and unforgettable loss.
As of the time of filing this report, the spokesman of the Bauchi State Police Command, SP Mohammed Wakil, could not be reached for official comments, as calls to his line were unsuccessful.
