The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has debunked claims circulating on social media alleging an attack on Lt. Ahmed Yerima at NNPC Junction, Kubwa, describing the reports as false and misleading.
According to the Command, on 16th November 2025 at about 6:15 p.m., a police patrol team conducting a routine stop-and-search operation at NNPC Junction along Kubwa Expressway intercepted an ash-coloured Toyota Camry with a concealed number plate and fully tinted windows.
Officers approached the vehicle in line with standard operational procedures and politely requested the occupant’s identity and an explanation for the concealments. The occupant, however, refused to provide identification, made several calls, and wound up his tinted windows, declining to engage with the police team.
Shortly after, three naval personnel arrived at the location, cordially identified the occupant as their colleague, and were seen taking video and photo footage of the encounter before leaving. Following this confirmation, the police allowed the vehicle to proceed, and the patrol continued its operations peacefully without further incident.
The FCT Police Command expressed surprise at the circulation of “maliciously crafted tales” and “allegations of assassination” stemming from the routine operation.
Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Miller Dantawaye Psc., called on residents and visitors to cooperate with police officers in the discharge of their lawful duties and urged the public to avoid spreading unverified news capable of creating fear and apprehension in society.
Residents are encouraged to report suspicious activity or make inquiries via the following emergency lines: 08032003913, 08068587311, and CRU: 08107314192.
SP Josephine Adeh ANIPR, MIPRA, Police Public Relations Officer, signed the statement.
