BREAKING: NewsWatch co-founder Dan Agbese dies at 81
Mr. Dan Agbese, co-founder of NewsWatch magazine and a towering figure in modern Nigerian journalism, has passed away.
Family sources confirmed to journalist Shola Oshunkeye that Agbese died on Monday morning in Lagos at the age of 81.
Agbese had a distinguished career in media, serving as editor of The Nigeria Standard and The New Nigerian, and as general manager of Radio Benue. He was Editor-in-Chief of NewsWatch magazine until April 2010.
A respected newspaper columnist and author, Agbese held degrees in Mass Communications and Journalism from the University of Lagos and Columbia University, New York.
He also authored several acclaimed books, including Nigeria Their Nigeria, Fellow Nigerians, The Reporter’s Companion, Style: A Guide to Good Writing, and The Columnist’s Companion: The Art and Craft of Column Writing.
