EFCC summons former AGF, Malami
Immediate-past Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, SAN, says he has received an official invitation from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Malami revealed the development early Friday through a post on his verified Facebook page but did not state why the anti-graft agency sought his presence or what allegations were involved.
Malami, who served as the nation’s chief law officer between 2015 and 2023 under ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, had direct supervisory oversight of the EFCC throughout his eight-year tenure.
Now a prominent figure in the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and a governorship aspirant in Kebbi State, the former minister said he intends to fully cooperate with investigators.
He also assured that he will publicly brief Nigerians after the engagement with the EFCC.
He wrote: “This is to confirm that I have been invited by the EFCC.
“As a law-abiding and patriotic citizen, I hereby reaffirm my commitment to honour the invitation.
“I understand the spirit of accountability and transparency in public service the principles that I both advocate and champion.
“Rooted in public service and in the spirit of transparency and accountability, I am committed to sharing with the Nigerian public the developments as they unfold.”
