A tragic road mishap in Gboko Local Government Area of Benue State has claimed the life of an unidentified man after he was run over by a truck reportedly owned by Dangote Group.
The fatal incident occurred at the busy Rice Mill Junction, an area residents say has become a hotspot for frequent accidents involving heavy-duty trucks and commercial vehicles, sparking fresh worries about safety.
Witnesses said the accident happened abruptly, leaving onlookers stunned as the victim was said to have died instantly before any form of emergency response could arrive.
A local resident, Hiifan Zendesha, recounted the chaotic scene that followed, as commuters and passersby rushed to the location shortly after the crash.
“It happened so fast. The man didn’t stand a chance,” an eyewitness said.
As of the time of this report, the identity of the deceased remains unknown.
Meanwhile, residents have urged authorities to enforce stricter traffic regulations and improve control measures at the junction to curb the rising number of accidents.
