Controversy as Trump posts AI Image of himself as Jesus
U.S. President Donald Trump has ignited fresh global controversy after sharing an AI-generated image portraying himself as Jesus Christ, while launching a scathing attack on Pope Leo XIV.
The image, posted on Trump’s Truth Social platform, depicts him in flowing robes surrounded by radiant light, appearing to perform a healing act. Angelic figures hover above, while fighter jets, fireworks, and iconic American symbols form part of the dramatic background.
The post came shortly after Trump criticised the Pope over his recent calls for global peace and warnings against escalating conflicts.
“Pope Leo is WEAK on Crime, and terrible for Foreign Policy,” Trump wrote, accusing the pontiff of failing to address key global security concerns.
He further questioned the Pope’s stance on nuclear issues and U.S. foreign policy, particularly regarding Iran and Venezuela, while defending his own administration’s actions.
The controversial post has drawn sharp reactions worldwide, with critics describing it as provocative and inappropriate, especially given the religious symbolism. Analysts say the move highlights growing tensions between political power and religious authority.
The development follows a recent address by Pope Leo XIV at St. Peter’s Basilica, where he called for an end to global violence and warned against what he described as a “delusion of omnipotence” driving conflicts.
