BREAKING: APC publishes 2027 primary timetable, fixes N100m presidential form fee, N50m governorship
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has published its full schedule of activities ahead of the 2027 general elections, outlining a series of internal processes leading up to its primaries in May 2026.
In the timetable endorsed by the party’s National Organising Secretary, Sulaiman Argungu, key stages such as form sales, screening, appeals, and primary elections were clearly mapped out for all elective positions.
The party noted that the schedule aligns with the 1999 Constitution (as amended), the Electoral Act 2026, and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) updated timetable for the 2027 polls.
According to the APC, the move reflects its resolve to conduct credible and transparent primaries while reinforcing internal democracy ahead of the elections.
“In accordance with the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended), the Electoral Act 2026, and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Revised Timetable and Schedule of Activities for the 2027 General Elections, the All Progressives Congress (APC) hereby releases its Timetable and Schedule of Activities for the Elections,” the party stated.
Activities will kick off with the official notice to state chapters and the opening of form sales at the national secretariat on April 20. Interested aspirants can purchase forms from April 25 to May 2, while submission of completed documents closes on May 4.
Screening will follow shortly after. Aspirants for legislative and governorship seats will be screened from May 6 to May 8, while presidential hopefuls will undergo screening on May 9. Results of the screening exercise are expected on May 11.
Those dissatisfied with the outcome will have May 12 and 13 to submit appeals before the primaries begin.
The presidential primary election is scheduled for May 15 and 16. Other primaries will follow in sequence: House of Representatives on May 18, Senate on May 20, State House of Assembly between May 21 and 22, and governorship on May 23.
Appeals arising from the primaries will be handled on different dates, starting with the presidential category on May 18 and ending with governorship appeals on May 25.
The APC also announced the fees for nomination and expression of interest forms. State assembly aspirants are to pay N1 million for expression of interest and N5 million for nomination.
House of Representatives hopefuls will pay N1 million and N9 million respectively, while senatorial aspirants will pay N3 million and N17 million.
Governorship aspirants are required to pay N10 million for expression of interest and N40 million for nomination forms. Presidential aspirants will pay N30 million for expression of interest and N70 million for nomination forms.
To encourage wider participation, the party said women, youths, and persons with disabilities will receive a concession, paying only for expression of interest forms and half of the nomination fees.
Meanwhile, INEC has fixed January 16, 2027, for presidential and National Assembly elections, while governorship and state assembly polls will take place on February 6, 2027.
The electoral body also directed political parties to conduct their primaries between April 23 and May 30, including resolving any disputes.
Campaigns for presidential and National Assembly elections will begin on August 19, while governorship and state assembly campaigns will start on September 9.
All political campaigns must end 24 hours before election day.
