Meet Hon Ada Fredrick Okwori – National Chairman, National Democratic Party [NDP]

If you’ve ever heard someone say “politics is not for people like us,” Ada Fredrick Okwori is the person proving them wrong.

Hon. Okwori is Idoma, born and raised in Otukpo, Benue State. She grew up watching her mother sell in Otukpo main market while politicians made decisions that never reached that same street. That’s where her passion for politics started – not in Abuja boardrooms, but in conversations with traders, teachers, and young people who felt ignored.

For three good years Hon. Okwori built the National Democratic Party, NDP, from scratch. No godfather funding. Just young people, women, persons with disabilities, and everyday Nigerians locked out by money-bag politics deciding to build their own table.

On February 16, 2026, the Federal High Court ordered INEC to register NDP. Today, Hon. Okwori is recognized as NDP’s National Chairman – the first Idoma person to register and chair a political party nationally.

Her rule as NDP National Chairman is simple: if you’re young, a woman, or an ordinary Nigerian with no godfather, you should still have a shot.

Under her leadership, NDP set nomination fees at half price for youth and women, and 25% for persons with disabilities. No other party in Nigeria has that written into its system.

People who meet Hon. Ada describe her as simple, down to earth, direct, and allergic to long speeches. She would rather spend two hours in a village hall listening to why the borehole broke down than twenty minutes on a podium making promises.

Hon. Okwori strongly believes Nigeria doesn’t need another party led by the same names with the same playbook. To her, it’s “old wine in old bottles.”

What Nigeria needs is a party that belongs to the people who actually live the problems.

Under her, NDP is positioning itself as the party for voters who are tired of recycled politicians.
