The gunmen who abducted three siblings, their driver and the corpse of their late mother along the Otukpo–Ogobia Road have released the driver, the woman’s body and one of the siblings, while two others remain in captivity.

The kidnappers are reportedly demanding ₦30 million for the release of the remaining two victims.

The family was travelling from Abuja to Oklenyi in Okpokwu Local Government Area of Benue State for the burial of their late mother when their vehicle reportedly developed a mechanical fault along the Otukpo–Ogobia Road, leaving them stranded before they were attacked by armed men.

Family sources told Idoma Voice that the kidnappers later released the driver, the corpse and one of the siblings. The remains of the deceased have since been conveyed to Okpoga, where burial arrangements have commenced.

However, two of the siblings remain in the custody of the abductors.

According to the sources, the kidnappers have contacted the family and are demanding ₦30 million ransom for the release of the remaining captives.

The family is said to be making frantic efforts to secure their freedom while appealing to security agencies to intensify rescue operations.

The latest development has brought mixed emotions to the family, who have been able to proceed with the burial of their loved one but remain distressed over the continued captivity of the two siblings.

The Otukpo–Ogobia Road has in recent months witnessed a series of kidnapping incidents, with residents repeatedly calling for increased security patrols along the route.

As of the time of filing this report, the Benue State Police Command had yet to issue an official statement on the latest development.
