I’m no longer interested in marriage but I must have a female child – Regina Daniels
Nollywood actress Regina Daniels has revealed that she is no longer interested in getting married again following her separation from estranged husband, Ned Nwoko, but says she still hopes to have a daughter.
Daniels made the revelation during a livestream session with TikToker Jarvis at her Children’s Day carnival in Asaba, Delta State.
Speaking about her views on relationships and motherhood, the actress said she has completely lost interest in marriage.
“For some reason, I’ve checked my mind out of getting married. I’m yet to have a girl, and I must have a girl,” she said.
The mother of two explained that her desire for a daughter is tied to the special bond she believes exists between mothers and female children.
“I feel like you truly understand motherhood when you have a girl child,” she stated.
According to her, raising boys is easier because they can look up to a father figure, while girls often see their mothers as their primary role models.
“With boys, you can groom them to have a role model in their father. But for a girl child, you have to be the example she follows,” Daniels added.
The actress also disclosed that she once never wanted to have a daughter before becoming a mother.
“Before I had my first son, I used to say I would never have a girl child. But after my first and second child, I realised female children are usually the ones who stay connected to home,” she said.
Reflecting on family relationships, Daniels noted that women often maintain stronger emotional ties with their families than men.
“Men grow up, get married and focus on building their own families. But women always remember home,” she said.
Daniels married Nwoko in 2019, attracting widespread public attention because of their age gap. The couple have two sons together.
Their marriage later faced public scrutiny in 2025 after allegations emerged from Nwoko claiming the actress was struggling with substance abuse and needed rehabilitation.
Daniels denied the allegations and accused the senator of manipulation, psychological control and abuse before eventually leaving the marriage and relocating to her own residence.
