Troops arrest 11 suspected ISWAP logistics collaborators in Borno
Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have arrested 11 suspected logistics collaborators of the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) during an operation in Borno State.
A military source said the suspects were intercepted at about 12:27 p.m. on June 11 by troops of the 19 Brigade Garrison deployed at 61 Checkpoint 1 in Kekeno.
One of the suspects was identified as Usman Alhaji Bukar, who was arrested alongside 10 others while travelling in two civilian vehicles loaded with bags.
According to the source, preliminary investigations indicated that the group had moved into the bush around Ali Sheriffti to recover vehicles allegedly linked to logistics collaborators. The suspects were said to have been sighted supplying materials to terrorists before being targeted in a Nigerian Air Force operation on June 6.
During interrogation, Usman reportedly claimed that the group were transport workers en route to Monguno with the vehicles.
The suspects are currently in custody for further investigation.
