EKSU appoints Jadesola Babatola as substantive registrar

The Governing Council of Ekiti State University EKSU, Ado Ekiti, has approved the appointment of Dr Jadesola Babatola as the university’s seventh substantive Registrar and Secretary to the Council.

Babatola will serve a five-year term, with his appointment taking effect on October 5, 2026.

The university’s Deputy Registrar and Head of the Directorate of Information and Corporate Affairs, Mayowa Ogunlola, disclosed this in a statement issued in Ado Ekiti on Thursday.

Ogunlola said the council approved the appointment during its regular meeting on September 17, 2026.

Before his appointment, Babatola served as a Deputy Registrar at EKSU.

He attended Christ’s School, Ado Ekiti, before earning a B.A. Hons in History from Ondo State University, Ado Ekiti, now known as EKSU.

He later obtained an M.Sc. in Political Science (Public Administration) from the University of Ibadan in 1997.

In 2019, he earned a PhD in History and International Studies from EKSU.

Babatola, a former Global President of the EKSU Alumni Association, has held several senior administrative positions in the education sector.

He served as a Commissioner with the Ekiti State Universal Basic Education Board.

He also served as Registrar and Secretary to Council of the National Institute for Educational Planning and Administration, Ondo, from 2017 to 2018.

Between 2018 and 2021, he held the same position at the Federal Polytechnic, Ekowe Island, Bayelsa State.

He later served as Registrar and Secretary to Council of Ajayi Crowther University, Oyo, from 2021 to 2025.

According to the statement, Babatola belongs to several professional organisations.

They include the Nigerian Institute of Management, Chartered Institute of Administration, Institute of Management Consultants, Institute of Corporate Administration and Chartered Institute of Personnel Management.

He is also a member of the Association of Nigerian University Professional Administrators and the Association of University Administrators in the United Kingdom.

The statement described him as an historian, public analyst, university administrator and higher education manager.

Babatola briefly worked in the private sector before joining EKSU as an Administrative Officer One in 2001.
