Idoma community contributes money to repair dilapidated federal road in Otukpo
Irked by the deplorable condition of the Otukpo township road, some good-spirited Idoma natives have moved to fix the road.
The group, under the aegis of Benue Rebirth Movement, BRM, said it is a shame that the road passing through the heart of the ancestral headquarters of Idoma land in that sorry state.
The road, which is about 8km long, has been abandoned by the contractors, Rockbridge.
The project was awarded to the company at about N2bn.
IDOMA VOICE observed that just last week, the Senator representing the good people of Benue South Senatorial District, Comrade Abba Moro, personally financed the grading of the dilapidated Otukpo township road to make it motorable for users.
This action followed public outcries over the deplorable state of the Federal road, especially at the peak of the rainy reason.
The road became almost completely impassable, following the recent repeated downpours in the area, thereby making the road a nightmare for motorists.
This prompted the Senator-Comrade to personally mobilize bulldozers to the road, from the Rain Oil Filling Station to the OCB junction, to give it a facelift.
Joining Senator Moro, the group lead by Air Vice Marshal Monday Morgan Riku (Rtd), former Chief of Defence Intelligence, has so far raised over N4m.
The group is still calling on other well-meaning Idoma sons and daughters to join this noble call.
