Gunmen set police station ablaze, kill officer in Imo
For the umpteenth time, unkown gunmen have attacked and set fire on a Police facility in Imo State. Divisional Headquarters, Arondizuogu in Ideato Local Government Area of Imo state was torched in the wee hours of Tuesday around 2am.
The attack left one on-duty Police Oficer dead. Local sources stated that the attack left the Divisional Police Officer of the Division with a fractured skull.
Operational vehicles attached to the Division were also reportedly vandalized by the gunmen.
A Community source who preferred not to be named for obvious reason told newsmen that the “Gunmen have attacked the Arondizuogu Divisional Police Headquarters. They killed and burnt the body of one of the Police Officers”.
“They attacked at the odd hours and left the DPO with a broken head. They gave him matchet cuts and vandalized his Jeep and a police Sienna vehicle belonging to the division,” the source said.
Meanwhile, Imo State Police Command Spokesperson, Micheal Abattam has confirmed the attack.
He said the State Commissioner of Police, Rabiu Hussaini, had ordered a full scale investigation into the attack.
