Abroad-based man killed as truck crashes into building in Aba
A tragic accident occurred on Sunday in Osisioma, along the Aba–Port Harcourt Expressway, after a fully loaded truck veered off the road and slammed into a building’s fence, leaving one person dead.
The deceased, identified by residents as a man who had recently returned from an Asian country where he resides, was among those affected by the crash.
It was gathered that the truck driver lost control while in motion, causing the vehicle to plough into the fence and collide with a motorcyclist and two other men nearby.
One of the victims died on the spot due to the severity of the impact, while the two others sustained serious injuries. Officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Abia State Sector Command, quickly responded and transported the injured victims to a hospital for treatment.
Authorities are yet to determine the exact cause of the accident, as it remains unclear whether it resulted from excessive speed or brake failure. An official report is still being awaited.
Confirming the incident, the Abia State FRSC Sector Commander, Ngozi Ezeoma, said: “Yes. The truck rammed into the fence and hit an Okada man.
“Three male adults were involved and one died”, she said.
