The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Bauchi State has apprehended Abdullahi Ibrahim, a 500-level student of Veterinary Medicine at Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, on suspicions of being involved in the murder of a 17-year-old secondary school student.

Corps Commandant Ilelaboye Oyejide made this announcement during a press briefing in Bauchi. The arrest was made in Misau Local Government Area of the state.

The deceased teenager was discovered wrapped in a cloth and left at Misau bypass. On October 20, the lifeless body of the victim, identified as Usman, was found and taken to General Hospital Misau, where he was declared dead and handed over to his family for burial.

Following this development, the NSCDC initiated a comprehensive investigation into the incident by deploying a skilled intelligence team to Misau, as explained by Commandant Oyejide.

During their investigation, the team uncovered a history of communication between Abdullahi Ibrahim and the deceased, Usman. In these conversations, it was evident that the suspect had allegedly made advances towards the deceased, including the sharing of explicit photos.

“When the deceased decided to meet the suspect, a tragic confrontation ensued, leading to the stabbing of Usman. Subsequently, his lifeless body was concealed in a white cloth and left where it was later discovered,” he said.

The Commandant said during the investigation, the suspect confessed to the crime and would soon be charged in court.

He said the suspect confessed that the deceased approached him with a knife, which led to a struggle that resulted in him stabbing the deceased to death in self-defence.
