Abuja: Gunmen abduct two sisters, demand N30m ransom in Kubwa

Gunmen have reportedly abducted two sisters and demanded a N30 million ransom in the Guita community of Chikakore, located in Kubwa, Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, according to Sahara Reporters.

The incident occurred merely eight days after members of the Chikakore community protested to the office of FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, expressing concerns about the deplorable state of the main road connecting their community, which they attributed to a surge in kidnappings in the area.

SaharaReporters learned on Wednesday that despite the presence of military and police patrols in the area, the kidnappers returned around 11:25 pm last Sunday. Reportedly numbering six, the gunmen forcibly took two teenage sisters, aged 16 and 14, through the surrounding forests and hills.

A police source in the vicinity confirmed the kidnapping to SaharaReporters on Wednesday, revealing that the assailants initially took three children belonging to a man—two girls and one boy. However, they left one child (the boy) in the bush and conveyed the two girls.

The source explained, “The gunmen have altered their approach; this time, they refrained from shooting but forcibly entered. The owner of the house, a Calabar man, upon noticing the intrusion, sought help from the vigilante office and the commander’s house. However, by the time assistance arrived, the gunmen had already departed. The kidnappers then sent the boy back to inform their father to prepare a N30 million ransom.”
