No more physical visits as FG moves academic certificate verification online

The Federal Government has introduced an online system for evaluating and authenticating academic certificates, removing the need for applicants to visit the Federal Ministry of Education in person.

The ministry disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, and signed by its Director of Press and Public Relations, Boriowo Folasade.

According to the Minister of Education, Dr Maruf Tunji Alausa, applicants can now access the certificate evaluation and authentication service through a dedicated online platform.

“The initiative is a major step in the Federal Government’s digital transformation agenda and aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.” Alausa said.

The ministry explained that the digital platform aims to speed up the processing of applications and improve access to the service for Nigerians at home and abroad.

In addition, the new system will support institutions, employers and other authorised bodies that need to confirm academic qualifications. The ministry said the platform would provide a more organised process for verifying certificates and academic credentials.
