Victor Osimhen has become Nigeria’s joint-second all-time top scorer.

The Galatasaray forward secured a crucial point for the Super Eagles in their 1-1 draw against the Benin Republic on Thursday night. This marked Osimhen’s 23rd goal for the three-time African champions, placing him in the second spot on Nigeria’s all-time scorers’ chart alongside the legendary Segun Odegbami.

The late Rashidi Yekini remains Nigeria’s top scorer with 37 goals.

Osimhen will have an opportunity to surpass Odegbami and move closer to Yekini’s record when the Super Eagles face Rwanda’s Amavubi in their final 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match next Monday.

The game is scheduled to take place at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo.
