AFCON: Weather is our only challenge in Morocco — Mali coach

Mali head coach, Tom Saintfiet, has identified weather conditions as the only challenges his team has faced so far at the ongoing 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

Saintfiet said the high temperature and occasional rainfall have been minor concerns during the tournament, stressing that both factors are outside the control of teams and organisers.

The 52-year-old, however, was full of praise for Morocco’s hosting of the competition, describing the North African country as experienced and well-equipped to stage major sporting events.

Speaking in an interview on CAFOnline, Saintfiet commended the overall organisation, infrastructure and atmosphere surrounding the tournament.

“It’s been a fantastic AFCON so far. I’ve always loved Morocco for its ability to organise major sporting events,” he said.

“It is a beautiful country with good hotels, magnificent stadiums and excellent training pitches.

“Overall, I am very pleased with this AFCON. The only small issue is the temperature and the rain, but that is beyond our control.

“I would say it is a very good AFCON  well organised, with a great atmosphere. The supporters are very positive in the streets.”
