The Eredivisie showdown between Ajax and Feyenoord at the Johan Cruyff Arena took a disruptive turn as rowdy home supporters tossed fireworks onto the field.

The match had experienced two prior stoppages before ultimately being called off due to Ajax fans protesting by launching flares onto the pitch, coinciding with their team being 3-0 down.

In the 55th minute, after the players were escorted off the field for a second time, it was declared that the game was “permanently stopped” due to safety concerns for the players.

Ajax officially conveyed in the 56th minute via their website: “De Klassieker has been permanently halted after fireworks were thrown onto the field twice.”

Shortly afterward, the club made the announcement on social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter): “The match has been officially suspended.”

The Eredivisie also released a brief statement on X, stating: “De Klassieker is permanently halted due to recurring fireworks on the field.”
