All members of the Delta State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the House of Representatives have officially defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The defection was announced by Tajudeen Abbas, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, during Tuesday’s plenary session.

This move follows the earlier defection of Ifeanyi Okowa, the former governor of Delta State, and his successor, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, both of whom left the PDP for the APC.

The two political leaders made their defections public during a stakeholders meeting in Asaba, Delta State.

In the wake of their departure, Ikenga Ugochinyere, the House of Representatives member for Ideato Federal Constituency in Imo State, revealed that two more state governors and 40 PDP lawmakers are expected to defect soon.

Meanwhile, Bukola Saraki, the former Senate President, has stated that the PDP will be restructured despite these defections, adding that those who wish to leave the party are free to do so.
