Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has counselled Nigerians who are agitating against perceived injustices to be peaceful and not violent in their agitations.

The Governor spoke Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at the Benue Peoples House Makurdi while receiving an award from the West Africa Students Union, WASU, led by their President, Comrade Pillah Romans and his delegation.

He emphasised that peaceful protests which guarantee the protection of Nigeria’s institutions could yield meaningful results, stressing that he would always support only peaceful agitations.

According to the Governor, in spite of the agitations, unity and cohesion were necessary ingredients to keep the country together, stressing that greater results would be achieved with an indivisible Nigeria.

Governor Ortom pledged his administration’s commitment to evolving programmes and policies that will guarantee the future of youth, pointing out that in the next few weeks, a definite position would be taken on deliberations from the last youth summit held in the state.

While congratulating the WASU President on his election, Governor Ortom described his emergence as a blessing and honour to the State and charged him to be a good ambassador of Benue State.

In his remarks, the WASU President, Comrade Pillah Romans thanked Governor Ortom for the support which he acknowledged led to his emergence as the first Benue son to be president of the association who is resident in Nigeria.

The WASU President, accompanied by members of his delegation, presented Grand Patron Award on the Governor in appreciation of the Governor’s remarkable strides in governance and towards regional integration in West Africa.
