Benue 2027: Ato courts Abba Moro, signals push for inclusive leadership

As political activities gradually gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections, consultations among key stakeholders have intensified in Benue State.

One of the governorship hopefuls on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Engr. Peter Terwase Tortiv-Ato, has continued a series of strategic engagements with party leaders and influential figures across the state.

In the latest move, Ato paid a visit to the Senator representing Benue South Senatorial District and Senate Minority Leader, Abba Moro, at his residence in Otukpo.

The meeting forms part of Ato’s ongoing consultations aimed at strengthening relationships within the party while seeking support for his governorship ambition ahead of the 2027 polls.

Political observers say the visit is significant, particularly as it underscores Ato’s emphasis on inclusive leadership and broad-based consultation across the three senatorial districts of the state.

Before meeting Moro, the PDP aspirant had also engaged the immediate past governor of Benue State and leader of the party in the state, Samuel Ortom, alongside other party stakeholders.

Sources close to the consultations say Ato has been using the meetings to articulate his vision for Benue, stressing the need for equitable representation and balanced development across the state.

According to him, governance should not only reflect political inclusion but must also translate into fair distribution of infrastructure and social services to all parts of the state.

He believes that critical projects such as roads connecting farms to markets, access to potable water, functional primary healthcare centres, quality schools, power solutions, and effective flood control systems should be deliberately spread across communities to ensure that every part of the state feels the impact of governance.
